Birds, Flowers and Walking

The area around Montejaque is well known as a bird-watchers paradise, as it is on a main migration route. It is home to several species of eagle, vulture and many other birds not found in Britain.

In spring in particular, the countryside, right up to the edge of the village, is carpeted in a mass of colourful wild flowers and butterflies thrive in the insecticide-free environment.

Walks in the Natural Park are well signposted and improvements are made nearly every year. There are numerous old tracks through the mountains that give the added bonus of spectacular scenery.

Rock climbers find a challenge in scaling some of the rugged limestone in the area.
