Touring

Montejaque is ideally placed for touring the wider area by car. The roads in Spain have had a lot of money spent on them in the last few years and are now, generaly, of a high standard. Even near major towns traffic seems to flow quite well and driving is still a pleasure. Most roads are well sign posted and, with an up-to-date map, finding ones way around is straightforward.

Montejaque situated in the Parque Natural de Grazalema, is within reach of other Andalucain natural parks such as the important wetland reserve of Donana and Torcal with its strange rock formations.

The major cities of Seville, Jerez, Malaga are all easy day trips, as are Gibraltar and the coast, but Granada and Cordoba are better enjoyed with an overnight stop.

There are local fiestas, markets to visit, prehistoric caves and Roman amphitheatre near by. Wander through narrow streets in the old whitewashed Moorish towns and see into plant filled courtyards. Visit picturesque Arcos for great churches, castle, art galleries and pottery, tiny Casares perched on its pinnacle, the troglodyte houses of Setenil, Zahara and Grazalema with their wonderful views, so much to do, so much to see.
